Local Facilities

Horning is just 10 miles away from the City of Norwich with its historic Castle, Cathedral and Market, 2 miles from Wroxham and within a few minutes drive of the other northern broads villages of Potter Heigham, Coltishall, Stalham and Sutton. Great Yarmouth with sandy beaches, slot machines, the Pleasure Beach and lots more is only 15 miles away and Lowestoft, Cromer and the North Norfolk Coast or the quieter beaches of Sea Palling and Winterton are all options for a day at the seaside. There are plenty of cycling and walking trails for the more energetic and there are three day boat hire centres within easy walk of the house for those wishing to explore the Rivers Bure and Ant and nearby broads.

There is a heated indoor swimming pool, cafe and excellent fish and chip shop at Harry's leisure centre at Ferry Marina, just over the road from Alderfen House.

Horning itself offers river boat trips, restaurants, pubs and tearooms, a delicatessen, post office, gift shops, butchers shop, Chinese takeaway and newsagent/general store to name but a few. The village green is a lovely spot to sit with an ice cream and watch the boats go by and the 3 pubs all have riverside gardens in which to relax and have a drink and a meal.

Bewilderwood the treehouse adventure park is just outside the village.
